CNY gathering #colofamily.
I haven't had so much fun in such a long time and it's all thanks to my boss, Dan !
Dan had wanted to celebrate Chinese new year with all of us by organizing a bbq at his place. He closed the shop early so that every single one of us could be there.
Pauline, Fufu, Xiong Fu & myself left Bugis+ at about 4pm. We had to go back to my place first to get the car.
Getting to Dan's place was a little bit of a misson. You would have thought that traffic at this timing wouldn't be crowded as it wasn't peak hour, but trust me, it was congested. We avoided the highway by taking the normal route that I was familiar with. Afterall, I used to live at sunset way and that was halfway to Dan's place. So we followed the gps to the postal code that was keyed in and realized that it was the wrong place. We then figured that we made a wrong turn and headed back out. We then saw a car that looked like Desmond's car. I tried to catch up to it when I saw him slow down and we couldn't figure out why. It was only when we got closer that we realized that he was trying to dodge a whole load of monkeys who were just running around the road ! Luckily I didn't run over any. It was hectic !
So we made it there in one peace and so the party began !
Most of us skipped lunch as we wanted to enjoy the bbq, so we were all starving by then. Luckily, we had lots of people to help out !
And as usual, we'd be taking photos !
So before all the fun and games started, we had a mini charade session. We were all laughing till we had stomach cramps.
And here's more photo taking.
Poor Caixia slipped and fell into the pool. I think she must have missed a step and it caused her bottom half to be soaked ! Luckily she didn't hurt herself !
So after everyone had their fill, we were all told to gather in the function room. Before the fun and games started, we took a selfie with with Dan's adorable daughter, Beth.
So first things first, we had to get into 2 groups. Dan's a really fair person, so what he did was put in an equal number of snail and snake written onto a piece of paper and we were told to draw one each. Next, we had to act out what we had and form groups.
Now that the groups had been form, it was time for our first game - Charades. The theme was gaming and we had 5 minutes to write 15 words related to gaming onto a piece of paper. Our team had words like "IO" which is a character in dota2 and steelseries which would be given to a person from the other team, who had to act it out for their team to guess. The rule Dan set, was that you couldn't pass, but you could get another person from your team to help you out. It was pure jokes.
The next game was charades again, but this time, purely by drawing. The theme this time was fashion. Same rules applied - it had to be one word. Who would draw ? Only those that acted out in the charades previously could draw. The end results were hilarious !
The final game of the night was to create a wedding dress out of materials that we had. Esther brought down a bag filled with random materials such as garbage bags, aluminium foil, paper plates, plastic sheets and some other things and the team leader had to pick an item each turn.
We ended up with mahjong paper, a pair of scissors, tape, plastic sheets, a bow and a red paper bag. We then thought of the concept of the dress and started on our masterpiece. We only had 15 minutes so we all had to rush.
This is the end result.
Lynette, the model from the other team.
Zac, the model from our team.
At the end of this, Dan sent the photos to his friend who would decide the winner. We didn't win, but we had so much fun and laughter that I reckon my six packs are now formed !
And before we ended the night, we took a family photo !
I would like to thank Dan from the bottom of my heart for putting in so much effort into organizing one of the best gathering I have ever been too. You're the most awesome boss that I'm ever going to have !
