Tips for hai di lao.
Here are a few tips for your next visit to 'Hai di lao'.
If you and your gang can all make it for 6pm, then you're in luck as the last reservation slot for weekdays are for 6pm.
If you and your gang are going to be late, then be prepared for a long long wait ( we waited 2 hours today ). But hey, on the bright side, you can call them to get a queue number or, alternatively, if you can't get through, you can always go up to get a waiting ticket and leave your number with them. You can then go take a walk or do whatever you like till they give you a call asking you to come back. You can also choose to wait at their waiting area where they'll serve you drinks and snacks. For ladies only, if you're lucky and there's a slot, you'll be able to get your nails done foc.
So today, I brought Uncle Kee Chye & Aunty Florence to Hai di lao as they've never been. Usually I'm there by 545pm so I always just walk in like a boss and it's empty. The crowd comes in after 6pm as I have mentioned above. We were going to meet them at 7pm so we thought we could go at half past 6 and get a queue number first. On the way there, we decided to call them and get a queue number. Over the phone conversation, she mentioned that it was still quiet and it wasn't a problem. I do not understand, how in the time span on 10 minutes, we ended up waiting for 2 hours. My goodness. We felt extremely bad about making Uncle Kee Chye & Aunty Florence wait 2 whole hours.
Moving on, we finally got our table, which by that time was close to half past 8. I was already over hungry by then, so yeah ( my dinner time is 6pm ).
Well, here's what we had.
The stupidly long wait aside, I think it's safe to say that both Uncle Kee Chye & Aunty Florence enjoyed their meal. Woo-hoo !
