蕎麦がき.

May 21, 2021

For most of the day, we'd be busy watching our drama series. But sometimes, just to pass some time here and there or just before we go to bed, we'd tune in to Wakuwaku Japan.

We happened to turn it on the other day and on air was this show about ancient Japanese recipes. And on this episode was sobagaki. Well, I'm sure you can recognize the word 'soba' and yes, you are right. It is the same soba. Basically, soba noodles are made from buckwheat. This dish, sobagaki, is also made using buckwheat flour, except it's made into ball like dumpling.

It's usually eaten savory, but this programme featured a dessert version and so, we really wanted to try. We went to a few supermarkets looking for buckwheat flour and we just couldn't seem to get any. We finally managed to get some from Scoop. I tell you, this Scoop is amazing. They pretty much have everything!

So anyways, we finally made ourselves some sweet sobagaki, accompanied by kinako and kuromitsu.
