Day trip into JB.

December 01, 2008
I spent the day in JB today to do some eating and shopping and by shopping, it was mostly grocery shopping. Teehee.

We left for JB at about 11 in the morning and by the time we got to Woodlands, there was already a jam which kind of sucked because I was starving. It didn't help that the sun was scorching hot and the air conditioning wasn't sufficient. We finally got into JB, which by the way was jam free and we went for dim sum. Although I lack food photos yet again, this dim sum was truly the best I've had. The dim sum back in Singapore is nothing compared to the one that I had today.

After lunch, my step-mum bought some tau sar piah from a shop next door, which apparently was really famous.

Our next stop was Carrefour.

Can I just say how huge Carrefour was ? I was rather amused. Oh yes, we walked past this pet shop and we saw that they had hedgehogs for sale. It was my first time seeing one in real life. They're mega adorable. I wish I could have one.

Well, the rest of the time was spent at the supermarket.

Next up was Jusco. It was yet another huge mall. The first thing we did when we arrived there was rush to have my dad's glasses made. He had his eyes checked and then chose his frames and finally they discussed the packages. You wouldn't believe that this whole process took 2 whole hours.

We went to stone grill for dinner. They actually serve your meat on this stone which is heated and you cooked it to the done-ness that you fancy. Oh and they served the best tasting mashed potato. Also, the seafood was really fresh. If you ever happen to go into JB and come across this restaurant, you should try it out. We had so much to eat and between 6 of us, the bill only came up to about 300 ringgit. Cheap and fantastic food if you ask me.

We had lots of time to kill seeing as it was still early and if we had left, it would only mean getting stuck in a jam for 4 hours.

We had planned to go to red box to sing but it wasn't cheap, so we decided to watch a movie instead. We tried getting tickets for Bolt, but it was sold out, so we just settled for Igor instead.

Well, before we left, we decided to take some family photos with the Christmas tree.

Before heading back to Singapore, we all went and had a shoulder and leg massage. As Yu chan is only 11, it was not advisable for him to get a massage done, so the poor boy just went to sleep. Well, it was way past his bedtime anyway.

So here comes the joke. The whole point of us leaving JB at a later timing was to avoid the jam, but we got caught in one anyway. We only got home at 5 in the morning. Pfffffft.
